Here are some good privacy plants:
The climbing Rhode Island Red Rose grows 12 feet in a year.
The Siberian Elm will form a tall screen the first year.
Rose of Sharon
Super Hybrid Willow
Dwan Redwood grows 3-6 feet a year
Cardina Autum Olive
Forsythia Hedge
Burning Bush Hedge
Canadian Hemlock
Purple Leaf Plum Hedge reaches 1-8 feet tall

There are several other plants that make good privacy fences.

You may consider a fence 4x8' lattice. It's a little costly, especially if you need a lot of it. You could use a wire fence or trellises and plant some type of vining plant like Morning Glory.

Tip: What ever you use consider putting it a foot or two inside your property line so you win't have to get on your neighbor's property to care for it.

Good luck!

I hate this program. A pencil and paper works much better, and it is more cost effective. thanks for nothing Punch!

I have a raised bed garden on the west side of my property. Worked very well in past years as the plants got lots of sun. But this past summer here in OKLA, it got into the hundreds for days on end and my garden was an abysmal failure even though I watered frequently. I heard it was because it never cooled off enough at night. Even in AZ, it cools down at night. Night temps were in the 90s. Just horrible. I am planning for next year and wonder if shading my garden would help the blooms to set. My neighbors had similar problems. Any advice?

I don't think what I'm seeing is the same. The leaves develop white fuzzy looking spots on either side of the leaf. The spots grow until the entire leaf is covered. It seems to spread to all the leaes it's close to eventually also. Other then cutting off all these leaves I don't know how to treat it or what it's called. It definitely seems like a fungus of some kind but I can't seem to find anything about it. I live in Lancaster, CA so the weather is that of the Mojave desert.
