How Long Does It Take For Columbine Seeds To Germinate?
I’ve had mine planted for nearly a month now, and still nothing. Does this mean they’re not going to grow?
Thanks!

Columbine generally go to seed this time of year. I started out with one plant a few years ago which I bought already full grown. When it was done flowering, I left the seed pods on the plant to dry and reproduce. I then picked the seeds pods and sprinkled them around in other areas. The seed did not germinate until fall. It went dormant over the winter and then started taking off again when the ground temps warmed up. Now I am digging the crap up and giving it to all my friends! I just think they just germinate better in cooler temps. (like lettuce & Spinich) They might eventually come up this fall. Best bet is to get some more and try again in September.
I just put some in peat pellets in a tray with a lid about 2 weeks ago and they are just now starting to sprout. Which (according to the packet) is a little soon. The packet said 22-30 days for germination. I tried just planting the seeds in the garden before, but didn’t have much luck. However when I planted regular plants they reseeded themselves all over the place! Had to keep giving them away! So far so good with the pellets, I think the seeds need to stay moist and warm to germinate properly.
I planted some this spring and after a month nothing had germinated so I planted some other flowers where I had the seeds. A week later I was about to pull up what I thought was clover before I realized it was columbine. The leaves look very much like clover so don’t give up, they may still come up. The seeds are very fine so if you have had a lot of rain the seeds could have washed away from where you planted them.
