You could probably make a similar list for any other month.
I think Eliot was referring to the uncertainty of the weather.

coincidence. There are countless atrocities for everymonth. In reality every day of the year has a history of death, rape and other atrocities. One need only look into the daily newspaper of any major city and confirm the body count. You bring up some pretty terrible things, and some which are questionable but truthfully try your little exercise of finding bad things with every other month and see what you can see.

Pretty much any month could qualify as there are plenty of disasters and tragedies to go around – but to get back to your question, as I recall it, T.S. Eliot’s poem was talking about weather and the synergy of the year, as much as anything. But then, perhaps my memory is faulty.

  • Maddog:

No, months do not have personalities or personality traits, whether cruelty, kindness, or whatever.
It’s only coincidence, not curse. An equal case could be made for any other month with similar random samplings of events culled from various historical periods.

  • Che' bama !!!:

Waco was not suicide. It was Murder. other then that YES.
You need to get the Documentary : Waco The Rules of Engagement. Usually when you commit suicide the Feds. won’t help you. Time to wake up. You are correct

Not for historical reasons, but as a metaphor for the cruel disappointment of Spring’s promise betrayed, the postponement or loss of an expected blessing.
    That is a great truth.
