This is the first comprehensive book to aid the gardener in making a start with native plants. It takes the gardener through the beginning steps of identifying native plants, evaluating them in relation to conventional garden materials, and learning detailed techniques of propagation and culture. Annuals, perennials (including ferns), bulbs, shrubs and trees are included–with about 350 species treated in detail, and many others included in charts and listings for quick reference.
A few California native plants have been in cultivation for a hundred years or so, but widespread consciousness of natives is relatively recent. It has arisen partly because of the recent drought, which natives survived more readily than exotics, and partly because of growing awareness that many natives have become rare or endangered, and may be preserved and perpetuated by cultivation for their ornamental qualities. The book is in full accord with the new trend in landscaping in which the environment, climate, and restricted water supplies are taken into account–not only for gardens but also for parks, roadside plantings, and other large-scale landscaping.
Because propagation and cultural methods for many native plants have never been recorded, the author spent years gathering information through correspondence. She has also had personal experience in growing natives for more than 30 years. The result is the first complete, practical, convenient guide for growing native plants. It will be essential for the experienced gardener and the beginner alike.

Product Description
A guide to everything that needs doing in the spring, such as introductions, propagation, pruning, lawn care, routine care, and pond care, this helpful resource book also features six projects, including a rock garden, an herb walkway, and a raised bed. 50 color photos and 250 illustrations.Amazon.com Review
Spring is certainly the busiest time of year in the garden–new plants demand to be seeded or put into the fresh, spring earth, while old plants grow with renewed vigor and weeds and pests leap back into action after the dormancy of winter. This is the time of year when gardeners must jump into preparing the garden with great energy and enthusiasm to attain the desired pleasing results later in the year. Steven Bradley covers all the basics and a lot of ground in this workbook-like guide, including planting, propagation, pruning, lawn care, maintaining a small pond in the garden, rock gardens, climbing plants, and much more in this beautifully illustrated, step-by-step guide to waking up your own garden in spring. –Mark A. Hetts

My ode to the lowly onion. If you do not experiment with onions currently, give them a try. They are easy, low-maintenance plants that are very rewarding to grow. They produce well and can give you a year-round bounty. I produce onions year round and harvest fresh right when I start cooking. Yellow onions and chives are my favorites, to grow, but vidalia and white onions are also tasty bulbs. I have also included some of my more common uses. I also use onions in my chili, but I don’t make that many batches on chili until the fall and winter. Happy Growing!

Choosing fruit trees in a clever way will give us an endless joy almost all year Round by having fruits on the trees whenever we visit the garden.

The sight of fruit trees is very colorful and changing through the seasons. Having fruit trees in the garden attracts many birds, butterflies and  other creatures who serve the process of pollinating and propagation.

Before choosing the right trees for the garden, it is important to find out if there is any sensitivity or any allergy in the family like for olive trees Or the smell of the guiava tree.

The considerations in choosing fruit trees for the privet garden:

1.   Planting space – fruit trees need a space in which they will have at least              3×3 meters or 4×5 for each tree. The preferences of the family members on which fruits they like. 3.   The continuity of fruit in the garden along the seasons. Trees which are ever green or deciduous. The resistibility against pests and diseases without or little treatments.

Fruit trees which are recommended by our nursary :                                        Citrus trees – oranges, lemons, grapefruits, limes, limequats, Kumquats, pomelos and others.

Citrus trees should be planted where there is no severe wind. It is nice to have citrus trees in the garden. The flowers have a wonderful smell and the sight of the blooming tree is very lovely.

The color of the fruit is nice and long lasting. Usually the fruits do not fall on the ground if they are picked in time.

Other fruit trees\ shrubs recommended for the garden are: Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â feijoa, guiava, pitanga.

The nice thing about those fruit trees is the long period of time the fruits ripen, the nice flowers they bare before and the variety of green leaves.

If the garden is large, other trees are good as well, like: Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Figs and other deciduous fruit trees.

If there is a place with no wind in the garden, it will be nice to plant banana.

More information about fruit trees can be found in the article about fruit trees
